Job Description (including, where possible, team scope & overall responsibility) Working in the Local Market Engineering team in London, developing and maintaining the media products* for the UK, the candidate will be expected to work closely with both Local and regional engineering teams and operate in close conjunction with the UK production team and other departments. Candidates should also be proactive at capturing, logging and following up on bug issues, using internal ticketing tools and have the ability to juggle multiple priorities. The primary responsibilities for this role include maintaining the media properties, development, localising and modifying European systems for use in the UK market. * Media products include Y! News, Y! Finance, Y! Sports, Y! Movies, Y! Games, Y! Cars
Requirements (including qualifications & educational background; technical/functional knowledge & skills – both essential and desired; experience) Minimum of BSCS or relevant university degree 2 or more years of professional experience developing mission-critical applications Strong Perl experience PHP and RDBMS with MySql a plus Experienced with modern HTML, CSS, Javascript, and General Web Presentation Good UNIX experience (FreeBSD) Extensive knowledge of software development lifecycles. Experience in software QA techniques and incremental launch schedules would be a bonus.
